Default C4+Stroker 383+Tuning question

I am looking at buying a 96 C4 with a 383 stroker. The guy wanted a pretty good buck for it but came down to something we can both agree on. He is not real mechanically inclined. He had the 383 put in because he wanted more power. He doesn't know all of the specs but gave me the number of the machine shop that did all the engine work as well as the mechanic that did the install.

Based on what I can tell, it was an eagle stroker kit, medium sized cam, stock lt1 heads, ported and polished. The machine shop person has done plenty of machine work for many of the nascar companies. I am yet to talk to him personally to get the specifics on the internal details. None of that bothers me.

HOWEVER...I did talk to the shop that R&R'd the engine and asked him what he used to tune it (i.e. was the car dyno tuned) and his reply was "No, I don't have a dyno". I asked "So the car is still using the stock FI maps and everything?" to which he replied that they used a kit that was designed to work with the stock setup.

Unless you guys can tell me something that I don't know about a C4's fuel injection system, I feel like this car, with 2-4k now on this stroker, could have some problems. Is there something about the LT1's EFI setup that could allow a cammed stroker 383 to function fine with the stock maps and timing curve.

I can only imagine that it has been running lean as hell generally speaking.

Thoughts?
