If you want a nice, do-it-yourself wheel cover, try WheelSkinz.
One tip, soak it in water for a few minutes before you stitch it on...this will let you stretch it a bit more as you put it on, and it will shrink slightly as it dries, tightening it up a bit.
It goes on over your existing leather. I have put these on my last few cars. They are great. As close to factory original as you can get without replacing your wheel or sending it to a pro.

Actually, from your picture the wheel looks pretty good without the leather. How did you remove it?
thanks guys....
yeah, the wheel loks ok without the leather but its not much to touch... if you know what i mean. i wasnt the one who took it off, but i asume it was quite cracked and/or ripped so the last owner just ripped it off.
you say the new skins need to be put over the old leather... what if you dont have the old leather? will it still be a tight fit?
id hate to think what a wheel with sagging leather would look like.... some sorta old Gran i imagine

It will still be tight. I have used these on several cars myself, and they are a bit time consuming to stitch on, but not difficult. I wore a sore spot on my finger the last time I did it.
When you order, you have to give them the measurement for the thickness of the wheel. Don't just tell them that it is a Corvette wheel. There are instructions for how to measure on the website.

I was impressed with the job American Stitches did for my corvette. I decided to go with a 2 tone steering wheel to match the ruby interior. They were very friendly, sending me a bunch of color swatches so I could decide on what color to choose from.
