One of the reasons for this thread was to see if there was any interest in my project and maybe find someone locally to come look at it. I know it would be worth more if it would be running good but you guys have no idea how much time I have spent on this car and certainly frustration is a factor.
I drive only 8 miles to work and I was planning on the Corvette to be my daily driver. This setup is doable for a street car. It idles good and strong enough for A/C, etc at 1000 rpm. Others have done it. Getting the cruising tuning is the problem. Full throttle tuning is easy because of the wideband. I have tried the mail order tuners and have not been impressed. The research I have found says I have to tune speed density with no O2s. That is a tough way to tune.
Keeping the Vette (it is paid for) is something I don't want to do. I want to use the Vette sale to pay off some of the new car loan.
I know I won't ever get what I put in it since this is the 2nd 383 I have put in it. In the first 383, a defective lifter destroyed the engine.
I guess I will see how it goes this next couple of weeks with the finances to see if I need to get rid of it ASAP or try to get it running better for a better sale price.
Sorry to hear of your misfortunes, but if you're looking to recoup any significant portion of the money you've invested already, it's going to be very tough (to put it mildly). Most prospective buyers are looking for unmolested cars (read: not modified), and with any "hot rodded" type cars, Vette or not, the automatic assumption is that the car's led a hard life, and a lot of people will not take the chance on it.
You can sell it, but not fast.... unless you want to take a bath on it. Mentioning "everybody on the forum knows about my Vette" means nothing to the average buyer. You're going to have to be patient and find the right buyer for what you have, and most likely have to fix the driveability issue as well in order to minimize the loss (you're going to lose money, that's just how it is).
Just the set the record straight. None of my cars have seen a "hard life". The pictures on my web site reflect how the car is inside and out. I only use the best quailty parts and anyone that knows me would say I take extremely well care of any car I own. I am under no delusions. I understand that my customization of the car means nothing to most. My car is basically worth what one would be worth if stock to the regular Corvette person.
Am I missing something here?? I work as LEO, have a second full time job and find time for both my wife, family and my vette. Sometimes in the middle of the night I will go out to the garage, open all the doors and bust it off to just sit and listen to it idle. Get out a little wax or cloth and clean or wax on the car while listening to the radio. Some nights I go out to the garage and lift off the top, go upstairs go to the wifes side of the bedroom and throw her a pair of short short, a tank top and we cruize. She loves it, I love it and we have a great time, (read what you want in this) it's nice to be cruzin as the sun comes up on a lonely stretch of the road. LOVE MY WIFE AND LOVE MY VETTE.

Not necessaily. I am one of those guys who would buy a nice car like this with no problem. If it wasn't for the fact that it would never pass emissions, I'd love to have this car. (Hell, I even did the math to figure how much it would cost me to put cats back on it and a milder cam!)Anybody who has a clean well-cared-for car, and a website devoted to his car like Eric. . . I would bet he doesn't abuse his car. I've seen several modded cars that looked like they have been beaten on. But they don't look as nice as Eric's, and its easy to tell. I think its possible to fairly accurately deduce the kind of life a car has led, based on the general condition of it. In this case, someone's gonna get a heckuva deal!
