I have a 1988 Corvette hatchback coupe with a digital dash issue. i can see all of my information is calculating/working, which is good. My speedometer side is lighting up fine but the rest is not. I checked the ground on the lower left bell housing bolt on the tranny and it was on tight, only the outside of the grounds naturally dirty. does this sound like the dash lights need some replacement?
i picture the dash is like a calculator with LCD... if its not luminated (or dark in a room), how can you see the output?
There are many different writeups on repairing the digital dash, here is a link to one - http://www.batee.com/corvette/dcrg/r...bling_ip.shtml - I repaired mine recently, I had flickering lights and sunburned tach screen. I replaced the tach screen with new front off of ebay and tightened/cleaned the 4 light bulbs - all works great now -
I recently took the dash off my '89, and cleaned up the light bulb sockets and put in new bulbs---all is now fine! I would recommend getting new sockets from either Eckler's or Zip Products, and then do this work.
i removed the digital dash, and replace all the bulbs and sockets (screw it lol)... my digital dash works like new now... thanks to everyone who contributed!!
