Trashed a plug thread
Looks like I trashed the #6 spark plug threads anybody ever got a helicoil in while the head was still attached to the block? Or does it have to be removed on the LT1. Nothin is ever easy anymore. I tried a thread chaser it goes cockeyed and digs in. Tried to send a tap in and that goes off center and starts tearing whats left of the threads up. The plug will go in half way and then bend the electrode. I'm thinking the head has to come off unless somebody knows different. At a min. I'm thinking the exhaust mani needs to come off to allow room for the helicoil. Anyway, hope somebody has fixed this problem without removing the head.
