I would never be associated with any group that would have me as a member.

Be well,

This is great - it reminds me of people who try to be different by getting a wierd piercing or dressing in goth, only to end up looking and acting just like all thier friends...

Hey, I don't have friends for a reason!

I tried to be one of those once upon a time.....the idea of 20 years or exile to canada motivated me to eat dirt for 2 years.

Yup, m, but there were "alternatives". One could become, mysteriously, "4F". Or one could even teach in what was considered a (public elementary, junior or senior high school) special service school district. Both of those'd keep you out of ... the service.

Batman, of course this ain't a group! What group has no by laws, no leader, no minutes, no pay, no benefits (other than good ole' fun and good young people---regardless of age), no dues, no nothin' but a lotta thin air? I AKS you. I could ask you, too.

Line UP! Oh that's right---no orders, either. As you were.

True and I remember "c.o." (conscience objector) as well.......and remember filling out the forms etc. regardless they shot me back a 1-a ....and we still had the lottery (I was #232 they called up to 236 that year).....the only luck I had is I am here to type now

I figure I did my bit....maybe that's why I 'm posting in your "roll-off " no-orders thread ..LOL

What's the point of joining a group anyway? Do they offer punch and pie?

Ah, yes Army Green.
The food was good.
The weapon was free.
The ammo was free.
The bed was free.
The money was, well at least it was cash.
The food was good?

Mine was #4. It figures....I'm sure it's the only kind of lottery I'll ever have a "winning" number in! Fortunately ol' Tricky Dick got us out before I gradgee-ated!
