Hey just replaced my weatherstripping on the outside window, but I encounted a small problem. The new weather stripping is slightly shorter than the original but still OK. The old glue os showing a lil and I was just wondering what solvent I could use to remove the old glue without harming the paint...thanks Bruce
Do you mean the outer door seal? That's the piece that sits atop the door (on the outside) where it meets the window. If this is the piece you're referring to, that shouldn't be glue, as it wasn't glued down. It's more likely years of built up crud, wax, etc.
I'd start with something as mild as possible, and work your way up from there. Start with a quick detailer and a microfiber towel, then maybe try a bug/tar remover, then a light polish, etc. Just make sure to mask off the new rubber if you don't want to get new wax, etc. in the pores.
