I have the electronic heater controls and the readout goes from 85 degrees to 90 degrees. The problem is that 85 degrees is too cool, and 90 is too hot when its cold out.
Mine is the same way, it happens on the low end with 60 being the coldest and then the next step up being 65.
I don't know what to tell you without it coming across like criticism. Everybody's internal thermostats are different. When I set my heater on 80, after a few minutes I feel like I'm on fire. I can't even imagine 85 being "too cold".
Maybe your heater isn't making the heat it should?
I have a similar situation on my 95.If i set the temp for 78 degrees it is very warm untill the first 15 minutes. The temp is lukewarm (almost cool)after that.If I set it on 90 or even 85 its very hot.I heard it could be the ambient temp. sensor located on passenger side under the radiator but have not had any time to check it out yet.
Good luck-let us know if you find a solution
I replaced the collant temparature sensor since it was making me crazy with a bucking and cutting out problem. After I replaced the sensor, my heater control problem was solved too. Someohow the coolant sensor must have some control over the heater control.
