Default Replacing front Y pipe.. L98 o2 sensor location?

Well it turns out my newly aquired 89 has a bad main cat.. stuff is banging around in there at idle and it's obvious the exhaust is super restricted right now.

I thought about getting rid of the main cat and replacing it with a high flow unit..but then I found this unit at Summit. (Catco CTO-9518)

It's a Y pipe and main cat that eliminates the pre cats but keeps the air tube intact..

Does anyone know if there is a provision for the o2 sensor on the drivers side built in to that Y-pipe.. pictures don't really show it so I'm hoping someone who has the unit already will let me know..

Thanks,

I bought my cat-less y-pipe off eBay . It was nos and came from one of the Vette companies ( I can't remember which @ the moment though ). I didnt have to do anything with the o2 but plug and play type deal . The bung was we're it had to be. if the car wasn't in storage I would snap a picture or 2 for ya but you'll have to wait about another month ( I hope )

Good-luck

I replaced my 87s with a catless front Y and had the installer put a new O2 sensor in. I don't remember which brand it was but it did have the bung already in place. If yours does not have a bung then it can be welded in by a muffler shop.
I think you can see the bung on the driver's side near where the pipe attaches to the exhaust manifold.

Do you have a link of the sellers items? I too would like to purchase one as well. Since you have had good luck with this seller then I would do business with him.

I ordered a new cat-less y-pipe from Mid-America and I called them and was told the y-pipe and the bung cut in it ready to screw in the new O2 sensor. Hopes this helps.

If your goal is to open up the exhaust, they also sell a 2.5" (oversize) front "Y". I recommend this option instead. This is probably better than the Summit option too!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to save a few bucks, buy direct from Allen Stainless. They are Mid-Am's supplier.

This pipe comes in alum or stainless and with a bung (as in Corvetteronw's pic).
