The 1985 Torch red project Vette is down again. Radiator fan this time. Seems simple enough, Does any one know how to diagnose and repair one? Which wires, relays and switches to check and how? It just doesn't come on, ever, whiles sitting in traffic and temp is rising into the two hundreds. Appreciate it!
Stick a paperclip in terminal A and B of the ALDL and turn the key "on" (like checking for codes). This turns the main fan on and energizes several sensors and relays. The fan should run.
If you need to replace the fan. Here are the details on a new fan:

You can either reprogram the chip.
Or install a fan switch. This can either be an override switch, that lets you force it on from in the car,
or it can be an aftermarket temperature switch from Ecklers that automatically turns the fan on at a certain temp. Some places even have adjustable ones.
I read a thread about the switch. Thought it was the A/C - heat fan they were talking about.
Aftermarket adjustible switch from Ecklers huh? Where do you install it? Ecklers on the Internet?
Brian - You sure its supposed to come om with pins A & B shorted? Don't think it does. How do I narrow it down to the motor. Fuse is good. I'm going to go beat on the relay!

Yes, its supposed to come on with the top right pins jumpered and key on. When you do this, the ECM grounds the fan relay, and most of the other stuff on the car. Brian knows his stuff on cooling fans.
