Hi everyone. I have searched the corvette forum but didn't find answers that were really all that detailed. Having a problem with my 1987 L98. I had the windshield replaced today which was covered under the insurance. That was great. Had new header seal and targa seals that I ordered from Taber Corvette Parts which seem to be very good quality. Spent the day adjusting the side windows and they seem to seal well, except for one small spot on each side.
The spot I am referring to is where the targa seal meets the header/pillar seal. The seals meet up tightly and I used a trick the windshield installer said which was glycerin to swell the seals but right where the two seals meet, there is still a leak. Anyone have any ideas? I have new carpet to put in but don't want to until I get it sealed. Anyone have any ideas about adjustment or how to get it to seal?
The metal tab at the front of the targa top is used to push the weather strips together where they meet. It should be bent downward to apply more pressure at the union.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I now have the seals working properly. The doors close correctly. Now just one last problem: passenger window rolls up correctly but the driver window rolls up almost all the way but seems to cant forward 1/8" at the upper right corner of the window leaving an air gap. If I open the door and close it again, the window sits against the seals correctly. Any suggestions? Otherwise they windows/doors are sealing correctly.
