I have looked on the Audio Section and cant seem to find a straight answer. Is it possible to put new speakers in the stock locations or do I need to fabricate or purchase some kind of a mounting plate. What I am thinking of doing is getting a component speaker system and putting the crossover in where the old bose amps ar located and justt pulling out the bose cones and mounting new stuff in there. Any help would be appricated.
thanks
Tony

If replacing stock you will need a mounting plates. Unsure on your year. but on a 90 and 91 yes you do.
Removed the Bose boxes from the rear, and installed 6 x 9 Blaupunkt in the same location, no modifications required. I used the Blaupunkt speaker screens in place of the Bose, no problem.
The door speakers required a plastic plate mod, I mounted 4.5" rounds in place where the Bose boxes were. But I could've gutted the bose boxes and mounted the new speakers inside of them if needed.

Tony,
I've read that you can get 4"x6" speakers mounted in the front kick panels with little to no modification and up tp 6"x9" speakers in rear speaker enclosures with a little modification.
