Default Tokico Shocks

Hi!

In my series of continuing questions, I am wondering if any of you have had experience with the Tokico shocks, and, if so, how were they? I had a set of their adjustable Ilumina (white) shocks on my old '87 IROC-Z, and liked them a great deal. I think they only make the non-adjustable "blue" HPs for our cars (my car is an '89).

Thanks,
/s/ Chris Kennedy

I don't know about their models, specifically, but they do make a fine shock.

I will say this, I have Koni and love them!!! If you are on a budget, KYB rocks.

Thanks, everyone. As to what I wanted to know, there are several things: First, I assume they are the "blue" HP Tokicos (not the white Iluminas), is this correct? Second, can you identify the shocks you replaced and describe the difference the Tokicos made in ride and handling? Lastly, were there any installation issues and have you had any problems with them?

Thanks,

/s/ Chris Kennedy

My Bilsteins were leaking so I replaced them with the Tokicos. They were great with the base suspension but now I put the ZO7 springs and sway bars so it became too bouncy. I now have QA1's. My Tokicos only have about 20 miles on them. If you want them I will let them go for 115 shipped.

I have blue ones on my 96 and not totally thrilled with them. But I have no idea how old they are. They are weaping a little bit so I plan on replacing them.

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the replies to my original message. I have also contacted Tokico's USA office for more info.

Cheers,

Yup, I don't remember the shocks that were replaced but when it was done the bushings were done also, so the entire set up is pretty stiff. No issues with them what so ever and i am content with them in terms of ride/handling but the car is not a daily driver.

Hey Chris replied back to your PM. These won't fit your car as they only go on 89-96.

Good "mid-grade" shock... I have them on my '92.

I keep a set in stock for early and late C4s, but am out of the late style at the moment.
