Default 45 days

It took exactly 45 days to get my baby back to what it should be.. well, at least driveable and most of that time was waiting and trying to find the parts we needed for cheap. My dad and I did all the work ourselves except primer and paint. We replaced the bumper, hood, left headlight assembly, and repaired the left rear quarter panel. It's a sight that couldn't make me any happier to see: almost finished and in one piece again. I find myself falling in love with the car all over again.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a Corvette Forum until the accident forced me to look out of necessity. Thanks for all the advice and help. I knew a little about my car before but from looking through all the threads on here, I've learned so much more than I ever imagined. I also learned that problems I have had are really common (weatherstripping.. still need to replace that, PKE, dead batteries from bad door switches, etc.) Of course, a lot of the credit goes to my very mechanically minded dad too. A lot of what we did was new ground for him but he jumped right in and figured out how to do everything. The car wouldn't look as good as it does without my dad.. fitting parts to a Corvette is no easy task and took more than a few hours.

So here's a couple pics I thought I'd snap real quick while the blossoms were still on the fruit trees. (Spring has been here for the last three weeks or so..) These aren't of the finished project.. we'd like to make a few more fitting adjustments and then we should have about right.

Any questions, feel free to ask and thanks again everyone!

Edit: Thanks for all the compliments everyone... but my dad says that I should show you some of the before pictures.. they aren't pretty pictures. And yes, the worst part of the accident getting out of the car to see the damage.

Thanks! When my grandpa got the car in '95, those were the first things he put on. At that time I was 7 and didn't care about that and had forgotten he'd changed them. I didn't realize they weren't stock until I got on the forum. :o

Thanks! But that's from a distance... you haven't seen my weatherstripping. The right front wheel has been curbed (not by me though!) far too many times. And a whole list of to do's...

I feel so honored to have other vette owners saying all these nice things! Such an awesome forum.

Wow and I thought people would say "too bad it's white..." just because it seems there are so many later 4th gen. whites out there. I could have changed colors on it but I decided to stick with the white because (it does look classy and) the pros of the color really outweighed the other choices. Fading isn't such a big deal with white, I live in an area where out of 6 months of the year, temps are 80s to 110s and as I already have black interior it's already an oven. And the white looks good with the black interior.. good contrast. And the white goes good with all the lights. I would like to have the interior be red (in honor of the '53 vettes) but I fear the whole fading to pink thing. But maybe I'll go for some white seat covers (any suggestions?).
