Default Convert to HID!

Heres the deal, this is for informational purposes only!

You can find a headlight housing that fits h4 bulbs on Ebay for about 20 dollars shipped
-This means instead of the light being sealed it takes a replaceable bulb, like a honda or a newer car.

Then you convert to HID, a kit runs about 250 bucks, and comes with a converter box, that runs a High Intensity Discharge bulb
-The kit comes with a little box that converts the amps or what not to allow bright lights like those on a BMW or a Mercedes or a C6.
-To install you just splice in the wires and your good to go, and it takes less electricity then factory
-There is no risk of burning up your car

I know these work because two of my friends got these kits on their cars and they look great, very bright, and it took us about two hours to do them right.

I am going to be converting to this system here in a month or so, so if anyone wants more info, i would be glad to help you.

Heres the little headlight that takes a replaceable bulb:

Its about 20 bucks, or cheaper it takes a H4 bulb

Here is what a HID kit looks like:

It runs around 250 or so, this is the one by buddies have

Just thought id let you know about this, just incase you are like me and want lights that actually light up the road lol

I looked into HID for my truck and found that installing a set of Silverstar ultras for $100 was bright enough. Difference was night and day with very bright white light. I intend to do the same for my corvette. I have also installed the same headlight on my corvette.

I'm very interested in doing this conversion also. I have the clear APC diamond casings already installed. I'm guessing these would work also. Was the HID kit bought on ebay also? So far most of the kits I have seen run around $400+. It would worry me that this one is only $250? Keep us updated as to how it goes + pictures. Good luck.

Please keep us posted. I really need brighter lights and have been considering changing to a plastic replacement type of light (weight savings). Having a much brighter light makes it even better.

well im sure that works too, the only reason i said that company is because two of my friends have them on their cars and i know they work and how they look, but im sure there are cheaper ones out there that work just as good if not even better, so if anyone else finds some good ones, make sure to post them, so that when i do it, it will be cheaper

by the way those are bosch, so im sure they are way better then the ones i mentioned

I am confused about Hi Lo beams.
Do these lights change Hi Lo by the ballast altering "juice"?

I have been looking into the details and found this site useful.
www.xenon-hid-usa.com
This is what they replied to me when I emailed them asking about my vette:
All our kits are plug and play type, really not requiring cutting job. We have three kinds of H4 dual beam kit:
1. HID + Halogen (HID is for low beam)
2. Retractable - The bulbs can be moved forward and backward to generate dual xenon beams (HI/Lo), it comes with 2 ballasts;
3. Bi-xenon - it has 4 ballasts, there are two capsule in each bulb to control HI/Lo beam.
Check the Deluxe Edition , you can see ultra slim ballast, it's only half size and weight. This might help a lot with the room issue. Long 8cm, wide, 6cm. hig 1.5cm.
The bulb wire plus the wire on ballast, total is about 60cm long.

I've not purchased them yet but I'm planning on soon.

With those housings, the light is going to scatter all over the place, and you risk blinding oncomming drivers. The proper way to convert to HID is to use a housing that is made for HID's. In some states you can even get a ticket and also be held responsible for accidents caused by "impropper" equipment.

You might want to go with http://www.vette-hid.com/c4.html

I added these to my 1994 and love them. It took a bit of work to get them in, but they are so much better than the stock lamps. You also still keep the high beam.

actually there is a reflector next to the bulb, when you turn on the high beams it just is a magnet and moves... the bulb stays the same.

Exactly, those housings are made for normal horizontal filament bulbs, whereas HID bulbs have a longitudinal filament . Causing the light produced to be improperly focused.

Either get housings made for HID, or get silverstars, or a HELLA H4 Conversion.
