hi!!! I have a 1992 6 speed LT1 corvette with 200k miles on the clock and I have decided to rebuilt the engine this year, my question is, how do you prime the oil system in an LT1 engine before initial break-in start-up? "(sorry but Im new to top mounted distributor-less engines)" I hope I explained my self right. thanks in advance.
ps. will stock LT1 valve covers clear stud girdles???
I have not done an lt1, but would think that the oil pump drive in the lifter valley could be removed and prmed the normal way. Then the drive can go back, intake can be dropped on and all is good
In the rebuild book I have they say to use a pressurized oil canister attached to the hole for the oil pressure sender. Might be able to make your own. Using a air compressor to siphon oil right out of the bottle and in to the sending unit hole.
All I can say is nothing fit under my LT1 covers,I had to install spacers, then cut the drivers side to fit the alt and stuff.
You prime the engine before you install the intake with an air drill ,that is all I did.
sorry for the late reply BAM92 but I only play with the pc at nights after work and yes It will be a nice 355, LT1 aluminum p/p heads, witche's brew cam, LT headers, custom chip, usual bolt ons, 4.10 gears, M/T et street radials, you know a decent rebuilt and to top it off --MAYBE-- 150 shot of n2o
