Corvette keyless entry remote question
I was lucky enough to get my grandparent's 96 Corvette for my 27th birthday since she doesn't drive anymore, and it only has 44k miles. Its practically brand new, and I love it!
I do have a question though, she had her purse stolen about a year ago so she lost both sets of keys and both remotes. She never used the remotes so she only bought 1 replacement key so thats all I have now.
I found a few places to get replacement remotes, but I wanted to check to make sure these are correct before I order:

FCC # : - ABO0202T -
( AB00202T )
DOC : 218 K767
Part # : - 88960923 -
Assuming you are a girl from your screen name, from one girl to another: Welcome to the world of C4! Don't be afraid to jump in and get your hands dirty! I did and sure am not regretting it!
I haven't gotten anything really but the car yet and just got it transfered into my name about 2 weeks ago.
So the part number definately matches? I know some remotes look the same so I don't want to order something that won't work.
Also, the website says the instructions are included. I called the number and they said the instructions are easy to follow, so I'm hoping its not going to be something like:
Step 1. Call the Chevrolet dealership....

Good luck!
Here are the instructions for ya, but they do come with the remote.
To program the system:
1. Place transmitter and any optional transmitter 10 feet or more away from the car.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position and make sure the radio is OFF.
3. Push the TRIP/ODO button on the DIC twice.
4. Within 5 Seconds, push and hold the FUEL/INFO button on the DIC until the PKE light on the DIC comes on and stays on.
5. Turn the ignition to the OFF position, but leave the key in the ignition. The PKE light will come on and begin flashing.
6. Bring one transmitter into range. When the system recognizes the transmitter, the PKE light will stay on.
7. To program an optional transmitter, move the first transmitter out of range and repeat step 6
8. Remove the key from the ignition or turn the ignition ON.
Congratulations on the new car
Key fob is easy to find on Ebay or for sale here for half price of new. That's the drill. The hunt for a bargain is the trick. Read the C4 sections and learn about your new car. It's a complicated machine but easy to fix and maintain with the proper information. You're beyond lucky to get a great vette as a hand me down. If you have another car as the main wheels even better. Be careful at first 'cause it will get out from under you quickly. Later you may catch the modification fever like many before you.
Above all congrats and get ready cackle out loud driving this crazy car.

The fun officially begins now.
Be well,

I didn't see any cheap on ebay, but I found 2 sites with them for sale.
The keyless ride one looks kinda dirty or something but they want $152.00.
The other site https://www.OriginalKeyless.com has them and they appear to be brand new for less money. I don't want to gamble with the worn out looking ones on ebay which aren't really any cheaper.
10282929 and 10282930 are the part numbers, not sure which is which though. (dealer should know when they look them up)

Hi there Alby,
If your not in a hurry, they do come for sale in the CF forum pretty frequently..... In fact if you put a post in the c4 Parts Wanted, I bet you would get somebody willing to sell a used one for under $75.
Here is one I found on Ebay (new) starts @ $115 to $125

One thing you will find with this remote is that it is VERY annoying if you are talking around your Car... "click, click, click click" Basically you will keep setting off your unlock, lock by just being near the car. *Argh*
Good Luck

Check around the C4 parts/wanted. You'll probably get a good deal on one. I think I've seen a couple new ones on there that someone ended up not using. Though, I did get mine from a local GM dealer. The first one I got from there died in less than a year but I was lucky there was a year warranty on the it.The talking around the car thing is definitely annoying. "click, click, honk, click, click, click, honk". I just move a couple more steps away. But otherwise, I really do like the passive keyless entry on these cars and how it senses where you are.
The only lower price ones I could find are all beat up or have the broken ring on the bottom so they can't even connect to my keychain so I just ordered 2 new ones.
I have a '96 coupe also. I lost the remote so I went to the dealer and bought a new remote, ignition key and door key. What a price on them. So now that the car is for sale, I found the original one, go figure.
Don't forget to wave at other Vette drivers -- it is the correct thing to do.
Remember the wave.
Dave
I solved this problem by taking the battery out and leaving it in a drawer
Many including myself think PKE is a PITA
Save the $100 and dont get the remote. Use the money for Zaino or something else
Is it really that hard to open the door with a key like we have done since about 1904
Edit
I really think you should mosey over to OT with the avatar pic you have
TLH would be zero to H in 3.2 sec
