Default 1988 vert

I found a 1988 red vert with a black top for sale for $6800 from what I can see just walking around and looking at the car so far it needs tires, the instrument cluster does not work (after market head unit for stereo installed ) may be the problem. Shut off valves installed in the heater core lines. Needs work on the interior seats, dash, door panels. There was a small box about 1 inch by ½ inch box with a wiring running down from the top of the intake on the box was Godzilla chip2 or something on those lines. Top did not show any signs of leaks but that does not mean the car was not keep in a garage. Does it sound worth the money to buy it and fix up as a run around car will not be driven all the time but will not be a garage car either.

Was asked the mileage 125,XXX not sure of the last part but know it was 125,xxx. I have been looking been looking for a vette for a few months so I had an idea it was to high but not sure how far to high it was.

thanks

I'm not a fan of the extra maintenance and leaks a vert brings. Personal opinion.
What's the mileage?
As for the price... too much. The car was neglected, and you'll find that interior fix up is not a cheap thing. If you really like the car, offer $5k. Maybe go to $6k if it's got good paint and reasonable miles.
Cluster: $250 plus time to take out, ship, replace.
Seats: $720 to recover, you do the work, no foam.
Door panels: $340 for top piece and bare panel, per door.
That's just for starters. Carpet, misc items it adds up in a hurry.
A nice 86 vert would be $8k - $11k.

Last month I bought a 1988 Covertable off ebay. It is red and has a manual trans. Mechanically it needs nothing. It needs seat covers and some weatherstripping replaced. Steering wheel leather is shot. Paint is pretty good with a couple of minor scratches. Paid $6000 plus $750 for shipping.

As an '88 'vert owner those are depressing prices

Mine has 80K and is in pretty good shape for a DD but by no means perfect. Since I couldn't possibly let her go for less than $9,500 I guess she'll be with me for a while.

As to the original post - sounds like a lot a stuff to mess with if you ask me. How many miles?

those prices don't bother me because I'm never going to sell mine If I were you I'd wait around for something that doesn't need anything, but that would probably mean a significant price jump, so it depends on your budget as well. might cost you more in the long run though to fix everything. good luck on your decision.

Take your time looking. I looked for a long time and finally found one worth the wait. I got an '86 vert with 42k on it for $8000, and it needs very little. They are out there
