Hey guys,
Just stoppin in from the C5 forum, but wanted to ask you a few questions about the C4. My friend just bought a 1992 white coupe. The car was used in shows and is almost immaculate. For starters, does anyone have the performance specs on 0-60 and quarter mile times. Also what is the torque rating. As a general question, the only imperfection on the corvette is a few spider cracks on the left rear bumper. Is there anything he can do to prevent the spread of the cracks or to conceal them. Also when in Overdrive, the car seems to shudder when below 60 MPH. Soon as you down shift out of OD, the shuddering disappears. It's an auto by the way. Thanks guys for all your help. I told him to join this forum soon as he got his car and he is excited to become a part of the forum.
0-60 times are for magazine readers. His car is good for mid 13s stock if he knows how to drive it.
Unfortunately most people don't, so they rattle off magazine times instead.
it's true, i read car and corvette magazines and swear by the 0-60 times. doesn't 0-60 times count for something though, or is this generally discounted by true enthusiasts? i think the faster you get to 60 does say something about how fast a car is...
Send your friend to www.corvetteactioncenter.com and look up the model center.. it has a re-cap of all the published magazine (and GM offical) times for each model year vette.. very cool!
for 1992 HP was 300 and TQ was 330.. a cam change in 1993 made an additional 10 ft/lbs of TQ

To my knowledge the only way to get rid of the spider cracks is to sand it down into the fiberglass. Even if the paint is sanded to the primer and then repainted, the cracks will reappear.
