Now that I have new brake pads, it's time to change the oil. Not sure if I should go with regular oil or synthetic. I've heard good things about synthetic, but I'm not sure if there really is a performance gain that justifies the price. I'm thinking regular oil would be fine, what y'all think?
If you change your oil every 3000 miles or once a year, I'm not sure synthetic is worth the expense. If you ride 'em long and hard, then you might choose synthetic.

Any combustion engine is better off with synthetic oil. It leaves a coating of lube on the cyclyder walls and rings that add protection after not having have run the engine in a while (which might be days or weeks). Gravity pulls conventional oil to the bottom. Slick-50 used to be the way to go for this function.
The first few cycles of an engine starting with dry cylinder walls is a bad thing. Over time, having have experienced the dry cycles will show on the rings and walls.
