Default fluid leak inside

Just pulled up the carpet from the passenger side for replacement and found that something has been leaking. Thought for sure it was coolent, but this looks like oil. Doesn't taste like coolent either (don't ask how I know). Any ideas?

Well, it could be compressor oil - which will ooze out of the Evaporator if it's leaking, only it usually sticks to the foam filter on the inlet side of the Evaporator making a gooey, tar like mess that doesn't have enough consistency to drip. Now the water that you make when you cool the air does drip and it could pick up some oil like consistency as it forms on the cooling fins (assuming they're covered with compressor oil) - only it's suppose to get drained away before it floods the interior. So I'd start by making sure that the weep hole in the bottom of the Evaporator Case (some years may use a hose) is free and clear of any obstructions. For most, you either jack it up or feel around underneath it to find the hole, then use a toothpick or other soft object to make sure it's open. I'd also have an a/c shop stick an electronic leak detector in your a/c vents just to make sure the Evaporator isn't leaking.

Just pulled up the drivers side carpet and it's there too.

The heater plenum exits or vents on both sides.
