Default rear emblem

The one on the bumper, there are no bolts holding it on just the tape right?

On a '84 to '90 bumper the emblem is held on with adhesive but there are also three locating pins that pass through holes in the bumper. If memory serves me correct I believe they are just locating pins, but there *may* be nuts securing the emblem to the bumper as well.

No nuts, you are correct, they are just locating pins. Held on by tape

if you buy new (repro) emblems, they're held on by both tape and 2 bolts. that goes for both emblems.

Also easy to remove...just heat it with wife's hair dryer and take a piece of 30# test fish line about 12 inches long and starting at the end work the fish line between the emblem and body in a sawing motion. When you get to one of the three guide pins saw around it. Soon you'll be able to pull emblem out from body with your fingers. Continue until you get it totally off adding more heat as you feel needed.
