Default TX emissions question

I have a question for anyone in TX who can answer this. I'm looking to delete my smog pump from my 85. I'm not worried about passing the sniffer, but am curious if anyone has had issues with visual inspections?

Last inspection I didn't notice them lifting the hood, so I'm guessing they're not checking for the smog pump.

I'm already about 90% done with pulling all of the parts due to other work I'm doing, so I'll probably just go the rest of the way with it!

Well, technically they ARE supposed to look for it, but they don't open my hood half the time either. Haven't been failed without my AIR system yet, but if I pointed out that it was missing I'm sure I would...

DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR CAR, OUR LOCAL GARAGE (SMALL TOWN) CHECKS EVERYTHING, MY Z28 ONCE FAILED BECASUE OF THE AIR CLEANER NOT BEING COMPLETE HOT AIR TUBE FROM CARB TO MANIFOLD GONE. WENT AND BORROWED ONE FROM A BUDDIE, CAR PASSED GAVE IT BACK TO BUDDIE. CORVETTE HAS ALWAYS PASSED INSPECTION, THE SHOP IS A HOT ROD HEAVEN BUT THEY STICK TO THE LAW.

I AGREE WITH YOU, IF ALVIN GORE CAN BURN $10.000 WORTH OF ELECTRIC POWER A MONTH I CAN RUN A BIG CAM AND OTHER HOT ROD STUFF, BUT I CANT AFFORD TO BUY CARBON CREDITS.

Move to Gun Barrel City and don't worry about it. And it only cost 12.50 for an inspection.

My 84 is subject to Houstons emissions testing and all they did was the tailpipe sniff, I don't think they notice anything missing as long as you pass. My EGR has been deleted(it's a Crossfire mod)but they didn't bother to open the hood. My understanding is that it is supposed to pass a visual but if it'll pass the sniffer it must all be there, right? Just a couple more years and it won't matter anymore!

Holy crap... I've always wanted to meet someone that actually lived there. I always see that city on the weather maps and it always cracks me up. That's great!

That's exactly my thought... a few more years and I really don't have to worry. I'm just going to delete and not worry about it.
