Default '93 coupe

Interested in expanding my stable. What a nice condition, no hit, 1993 coupe worth with 20k on the clock. No leather, painted tops, 6 speed with a short throw.
Thanks in advance.

Corvette Magazine says $18000 in good condition. This is a dealer price.

BTW, what does "no leather" mean on a 1993??

Thanks for the reply. The seats on the coupe I've been eyeballing are cloth. Was cloth an option?

cloth was standard through 1993. It's rare... that's for sure.

Sounds like a neat car. What colour?

yes a little steep unless it's in absolutely mint condition.

If the car is in great condition I don't think $15,500 is out of line

Is there a website that list used car values other than the slam dunk NADA and KBB? They don't reflect realistic pricing of sports cars, Harleys etc....

Most places you will find have them priced higher, they want us to believe that what they publish is normal when we know it isn't.

Right now, the C4's are the lowest priced cars in teh used Corvette Market, there may be a few sharks that are cheaper, but they won't be in good shape.

The used C5's have flodded the market and C4 prices are going down.

THere are a few exceptions of course, but for a normal everyday C4 and one as you describe, $15,500 would have to buy you a showroom ready car(and hope it hasn't sat for too long).

I paid $15,500 for my '93 back in 2001 with 36,000 miles on it. No way it would fetch more than $12,000 now(51,000 miles), probably closer to $10,000.

What it boils down to is if you can afford it or not and if you want it bad enough.

It is a six speed, so that would make it worth a little more than an automatic, but the fact that it has the cloth seats shows that it is a low option car, if you are able to, try and get the RPO codes to see what options it does have. Then we can help you determine a more fair price.

The low miles should promise you an excellent interior and possibly a flawless exterior, but teh mechanical protions may not be up to snuff.
If it's going to be a garage queen/show car, that may not matter, but if you are going to drive it daily(as you should), you may want a car that has been driven a bit more.
You might end up fixing more than you bargained for and then that $15,500 become $20,000.

Good point(s).......She's a looker thats for sure, but this purchase would be my driver. Perhaps I should explore the realm of ZR1.
Thanks for the help folks, I certainly appreciate the advice.

1993 was the last year cloth seats were available, but according to the "Black Book", total production in 1993 was 21,590 cars.

Base Seats - Leather = 8,935
Base Seats - White Leather = 766
Sport Seats - Leather = 11,267
Sport Seats White Leather = 622

That adds up to 21,590, which means (if the BB is right) there were no cloth seats sold in 93. Check the option codes on the label under the center consol cover and let us know what the car came with.

Anyway, 15,500 seems a high. Try offering $14,000. See what he says.

I paid $15,000 about six months ago for a 93 6sp with 14,500 mi. It has leather seats, painted top, suspension option, cd player, power driver and passenger seats. It is very clean inside and out. The sticker was $39,400 which came with the car. Make sure you check everything when you buy, I had to install new front speaker amps, new reverse light switch and get the CD player fixed, not major money, but a pain none the less. I think it was worth it, not a steal, but a fair price.

I'll probably take it for a drive tomorrow night. I'll check under the console lid and copy down the RPO.
As a question, is it true that 93's or the C-4 in general, may not have had a posi rear?? I thought I read that somewhere. Maybe something to do with the traction control?

I think all C4s had positraction. Unlike earlier generations it wasn't an option.

I just got a 92 coupe M6 with cloth interior. Very rare... I think less than 5% of production.

Paid c$12500 in Canada last December. 90,000kms, 6spd, cassette, cloth, and manual AC. Needed tires to safety.

I looked around for months on both sides of the border and price seemed about right to me. Lots of forum folks think sellers are giving away nice vettes with no stories for $9K all day long but I never found one. Not with less than 100kms anyway.

ALL C4s came from the factory with limited slip. The traction control only helped on bad road surfaces. In the dry, it doesn't really come into play... just makes driving it on an emissions dyno a real pain.

There are two rears for the C4, the D36, standard on all 1984 and all automatics after that, and the D44, standard only on manual Vettes. Both are made by Dana. Check out the C4 Tech FAQ for more details. It's a sticky at the top of the C4 Tech page.

I've heard rumors that the LT-1 sips fuel at highway speeds averaging 26 mpg. Is that so, and does it do that on 87 oct?

Just took a four hour cruise in mine over the weekend and it averaged 23. This is a 6sp, I was surprised at the gas mileage myself.

My '93 is an automatic and it is very, very good on fuel but I've only run "premium" in it. I'd say it averages about 23mpg between highway & city driving if you keep your foot out of it.

Default MPH on a 6 speed

At 70 mph 30-32 MPG is not out of the question. I will see how good of mileage I can get on longer trips and have been at 32 mpg for long trips. ONly on a six speed....
