The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Right now, the C4's are the lowest priced cars in teh used Corvette Market, there may be a few sharks that are cheaper, but they won't be in good shape.
The used C5's have flodded the market and C4 prices are going down.
THere are a few exceptions of course, but for a normal everyday C4 and one as you describe, $15,500 would have to buy you a showroom ready car(and hope it hasn't sat for too long).
I paid $15,500 for my '93 back in 2001 with 36,000 miles on it. No way it would fetch more than $12,000 now(51,000 miles), probably closer to $10,000.
What it boils down to is if you can afford it or not and if you want it bad enough.
It is a six speed, so that would make it worth a little more than an automatic, but the fact that it has the cloth seats shows that it is a low option car, if you are able to, try and get the RPO codes to see what options it does have. Then we can help you determine a more fair price.
The low miles should promise you an excellent interior and possibly a flawless exterior, but teh mechanical protions may not be up to snuff.
If it's going to be a garage queen/show car, that may not matter, but if you are going to drive it daily(as you should), you may want a car that has been driven a bit more.
You might end up fixing more than you bargained for and then that $15,500 become $20,000.

Thanks for the help folks, I certainly appreciate the advice.
Mike

Base Seats - Leather = 8,935
Base Seats - White Leather = 766
Sport Seats - Leather = 11,267
Sport Seats White Leather = 622
That adds up to 21,590, which means (if the BB is right) there were no cloth seats sold in 93. Check the option codes on the label under the center consol cover and let us know what the car came with.
Anyway, 15,500 seems a high. Try offering $14,000. See what he says.

As a question, is it true that 93's or the C-4 in general, may not have had a posi rear?? I thought I read that somewhere. Maybe something to do with the traction control?
Mike
Paid c$12500 in Canada last December. 90,000kms, 6spd, cassette, cloth, and manual AC. Needed tires to safety.
I looked around for months on both sides of the border and price seemed about right to me. Lots of forum folks think sellers are giving away nice vettes with no stories for $9K all day long but I never found one. Not with less than 100kms anyway.

There are two rears for the C4, the D36, standard on all 1984 and all automatics after that, and the D44, standard only on manual Vettes. Both are made by Dana. Check out the C4 Tech FAQ for more details. It's a sticky at the top of the C4 Tech page.
