Default 1996 C4

I am wondering how i can tell if the C4 1996 collectors edition that i was looking at buying has the LT-4 or the LT-1. Thanks for the help!

Easy... LT-1 had auto transmission & LT-4 was 6-speed manual, for all '96's including CE.

1996 C4'S came with the LT4 if a 6Speed, if auto LT1.

another way to tell is pop the hood and and look at the intake manifold. LT-1 intakes are silver and the LT-4 intakes are red and the throttle body plate says " Grand Sport" And if you want to make sure its a true LT-4 Lift up rear storage door and look for the RPO code LT4 on the list.

with everything said so far.

But we all know how some people want to pass off a car as something it might not be. Even if it's a lot of trouble, someone could convert an auto to a manual 6-speed. They could alos put the red intake on.

So, if you really want to make sure look at the VIN.
8th character:
P = LT1
5 = LT4
