Seats
It looks like I may be buying a 1987 Yellow/Saddle coupe in the next week. The seats are about the only part that look like crap. I initially considered just vinyl seat covers, but then figured 20 year old foam would probably disintegrate, so then I priced vinyl on foam, with a bet price of about $664 shipped on ebay. I cheked Al Knoch, and found real leather on foam for about $850.
I have read on the forum that the seat backs are a monster to replace. I then started thinking maybe a local upholstery shop might be a better way to go. Anybody had a local shop do their seats? Did you add new foam? Pricing? Pics? If in Atlanta, the name and number of the shop?
Thanks,

BTW they are standard, not sport seats.

I installed them so they run under the seat frames - it looks factory. An inexpensive fix to an eyesore of a problem.
"Nay-sayers" usually shime in and complain that the vinyl doesn't breathe and your legs sweat, etc. I have never had a complaint...and I don't wear 1970 style soccer shorts....so the backs of my legs are usuall covered. I also like the top off and the A/C on....so over heating is not an issue IMO.
You have seen my seat pictures before but here goes again. My seats were upholstered with nice leather, old foam is still there but they were repadded to make them like new -firm. Not sure how pros do it but I believe they use cloth on top of the foam?
Here in Finland its now popular to get your seats recovered by pro upholsterers. Its not that expensive and the results are nicer that with the covers from the usual parts houses. Repadding of old foam is always done for free if the old foam is tired so no extra cost there.
Yours is truly the most beautiful interior I have seen.

Chances this car will not be a "keeper", so the least cost for good results is what I am looking for.

It is my contention that most upholstery shops can sew pretty well, but don't know crap about properly replacing and shaping foam.
