Default carpet questions

I am looking to replace the carpetin my 84, can somebody tell me the difference between mass back and poly back and what are the advantages and disadvantages of them. I noticed there is a price difference in them. I have looked at a few different places to buy the carpet from, Ecklers, mid america, etc.does this make a difference? or are the carpets made from the same manufacturer regardless of where they are being purchased ? Thanks.

mass back is the original carpet. It has thick black rubber adhered to the underneath of the carpet for (soundproofing, insulation?) Check out Willcox for carpets. Do a search here, other forum members have used Willcox.

I highly recommend that you go with the Willcox ACC carpet with mass black. Just did our 85, easy to work with and looks great. Check Willcox on ebay and save a lot of money.

Do a search, there was a very large post covering all, type, quality, instructions, etc for carpet... using the search function will get you answers faster than posts and more info so you can make informative decisions

Mass backed carpet is the stock carpet and you should try to use that when you replace it since the vehicle was designed with this type of "system" (but only if you care about interior noise). Mixing mass and poly parts don't yield the right effect regarding sound intrusion into the cab. For this vehicle, mass has better acoustic benefits. But poly is lighter. So depends what you're going for.

Stay with mass back carpet. Check out corvette america (catalog or on-line). I forgot the brand, but mine went in smooth and there have been no issues. Good luck!!
