Default Wheel Size Question

I currently have 17x8.5's on the front and 17x9.5's on the rear. What are the pros and cons of changing to 17x9.5's all around. (For example, what about changes in handling?) Also the tires would be P285's all around if I change the front.

The various 88-96 performance package options (Zxx RPO) had 9.5" rims on all four corners and ran 275/17s. From numerous posts here, 285s on the front are absolutely no problem. The wider the front tire, the greater tendency to grab ruts in poorly paved roads, or so I've heard...

Different catagory as far as model/year goes. I've got 275/17's on my '85 replacing the 255/16"s that were stock.

No problems whatsoever, handles fine.
Having the same size tire front and rear allows for rotating from front to rear (but only on the same side, no 4 corner rotating with directional tires)

Yup, one of the reasons I want to change is to be able to rotate front and back. As it is, my car does like to grab some ruts (that would pull me into the other lane.. on bridge ) along my daily drive but I guess I can take it easy and save some gas.. if it grabs the ruts a little more that is.

I've pretty much made my decision and will be posting a WTB thread in the parts/wanted section for some a couple chrome sawblades. Any more input is welcome though!

285s on the front will be no problem. Mine are 285/35/18 on the front and there still is plenty of room. The 285s fill out the front wheelwells perfectly. No sticking out past the fenders at all.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. Right now I've got the 285 on the front and it looks Much better!

By the way, you're car looks great, very clean!
