Hi, I recived my carpet from willcox but I seem to be fighting with the installation of it. can anybody give me some advice of what to do or not to do when installing carpet in an 84.
I’d say I might be qualified to answer your questions, what are you having a problem with.
You should take the carpet out of the box and let it sit in the sunlight for most of a day before you start to install it.
Pains on the carpet install would include the door sill plate covers and the shift console side panels. Both are hard to cover and have tiny staples in them to secure them to what ever that gorilla glue GM used to hold this section of the carpet in place.
Aside from that, the carpet set should not be that hard to install.
I don’t monitor the PM’s very often, but you can email me direct at willcoxcustomerservice@willcoxcorvette.c om with your answers. I’ll try to answer your questions as quickly as possible. But as mentioned above, you might want to read the ratty to natty article first.

keep it as warm as possible and it stays real pliable, especially with the stock backing. Did you or someone add extra insulation? - this always makes it a harder fit.

I spent all day yesterday and part of today installing new carpet, its 90% done.
I don't think its as easy as others have said.
I take digital pictures of every step in repair work. I also label bolts, screws, and other parts so I know where they go back on.
One helpful hint is this: When you are doing the front carpet, take apart one side and put the new carpet on before touching the other side. This way, you can use the other side as a guide.
BTW, I did have to use the knife to trim a few edges. The door sill pieces are too big and need trimming. The console dash pad on the passenger side is difficult to remove.
