Default help looking at a 92

Ok I am looking for a decent 92-96 coupe as a daily driver. And I have found a 92 with 107K miles on it. Its yellow on black, with a 6 speed, Z07, with sport seats. The paint is in fair condition, and the interior needs cleaned up real bad, no rips in the seats though. I am not sure on any maintenance records. The guy wants 10K for the car. I am sure I could get it for less. Any thoughts on this. Would you trust a car like this for your only means of transportation. I only drive 6 miles to work on way. I am in no hurry to buy one just yet. I am looking for the right one. TIA

No. Be careful unless you have deep pockets.

Personally I would never trust a pre-C5 vette as daily transport. Especially with no maintenance records and possibly a serious disregard for the general hygene of the vehicle. Keep looking, you can find one in seriously better condition for less than 10K.

Good hunting!

IMO for a little more money you can get one(newer) that the paint and interior would be in excellent condition also the miles will be lower.A paint job costs $$$.If the interior is dirty and the paint is fair, did he maintain the oil changes, filters, radiator fluid change etc?You can look at the "for sale" in this forum

Should be good for your needs, make sure the 6spd and clutch are good ($$$$). The rest of the car should be very reliable and easily maintained.

Same place a 85 white cpe 4+3 14k miles $4,500.

I'd figure the $4,800 Vette w/ 20K is easily a "wire me the money" scam...!!

There is a checklist on C4Guru of things to check when looking at a C4 vette. The first thing you need to know is if the opti/water pump have ever been changed on it, and if the clutch and flywheel have been replaced. Both are very expensive repairs (+ $1000.00), if someone else is doing the work. From your description of the car, it sounds like it could be made nice, yellow is a great color, but @ 10k, the price is too high. Figure it would cost about $2500.00 for new rugs, seats, and door panels. I would only go to say 8K, but you have to feel comfortable with the car and it's condtion.
As other have said, if the car was not kept clean, then you have to wonder about the maintainance.

Good Luck
