I have a line on a 85 vette.Owner says it is canadian automatic and asume it has z49 equipment.Anybody know what that is I guess it would be speedo klm, liters for fuel, and would car be worth more or less in USA.market.Haven't looked at it yet don't know price or milage yet either.Don't know if I could handle speedo in klm all the time.My 93 goes mph or klm,any input would be helpful. Thanks Tim
No such thing as z49, maybe z51 supsension package? The car should be the same thing as what you would find in the U.S. because all of the gauges can be flipped to metric with the switch.
The Z52 Sport suspension didn't appear until 1987 and only lasted thru 88.
Codes like Z49-Mandatory Canadian Base Equipment Modifications, NM5-Canadian Emissions equipment, and A5J-Canadian Accounting Purposes would appear on the Service Parts Identification sticker if it was a new car delivered into Canada.
I don't know when Canada mandated daytime running lights, but there is an RPO T61 for DRL's
Didn't the 85 have switchable dash display between English and Metric values? My 87 does and switching to the Metric display shows speed in Kilometers, temps in Celcius and pressures in kPa (kilo-pascals). Fuel mileage can also be shown in liters/100kM. All these values change when the slide switch is moved between English and Metric.
If it is a Canadian car, there should be a small round blue sticker on the door jamb; it will have a maple leaf on it and some text around the edge of the decal.
