Getting ready to install new headliner fabric. Just wondering, what attaches the headliner board to the top itself. Just wondering, before I mess it up. Thanks for the help.
I have a procedure I could e-mail you. Send me a PM with your e-mail and I can send it to you. I haven't tried it yet. I just received a new top and it is getting painted now. I will have to glue the headliner when I get it back so let me know how it goes. Here's a link of another members headliner: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1628935
I just replaced the headliner on a solid top I picked up for my '88.
Had the same question - how does the board mount back into the fiberglass top? A member on CF here suggested using velcro. So I went to Home Depot, picked up some big pieces of velcro, and attached it to the fiberglass top and the cardboard backing. Worked great!
This is helpful, so in the future, if you need to remove the headliner again, you won't be tearing the board apart, if it were glued in there.
BTW - once the board with the new headliner is ready to be mounted back into the fiberglass top, you'll notice it is a fairly tight fit - so the velcro is there for extra support.
Good luck!
Chris

On my old roof years ago when I did this.. i just pulled the old fabric out, sprayed the headboard thing with headliner spray, then applied new fabric without taking it out of the roof. I just tucked all the edges under and then slid a razor blade around the edges to cut the excess out.
I like the removable velcro idea though!
I may have to try that on my glass top for the summer months (My solid top is busted, thus the glass top replacement )
