Default Seating

Is the seating space the same for all C4's? It seems when I sat in a '88 it was tighter or the side seat bolsters were not as wide which made it seem that I was sitting higher in the seat as opposed to my '96.

They changed to a flatter-wider seat in 94......They are much more comfortable for the not so skinny drivers....

The seating space is the same, i.e. the distance between the sills and the console.
The seats themselves are different.

One thing I like more is the fact that your shoulder/arm have more room to move and rest on the armrest. Also, I am not sure how this differs, but the bottom of the seat, like where your knees go over the edge, it feels a LOT wider in the 94 seats than the 89 seats, but looking at the pic, I am not sure why this is. The distance and bolster size down in the knee area look the same.

papafrancisco - the seat well is the same size i believe, as is the bolts on the floor between the C4 models. I put the late C4 seats in without doing any modifications, they just bolted right in place. The wiring harness for the adjustments were the same plug too, and works 100% without any modification as well.

The later seats were redesigned. There is a story someone posted about how the early C4 seats were designed back in the 70's when the average american male was skinny... of course 15+ years later, that changed, so they redesigned the late C4 seats to be larger feeling (less bolstering).

I love the wider seats in mine, and im not that overweight. It just feels more comfy IMO.

Here are the differences between the 89 Sport Seats (passenger side) and the 94 Standard Seat (driver side).

Note the bolster differences....thats what makes it feel "larger".
