Default Calling all people with muffler Eliminators

I have muffler eliminators,

the left side gets warm/hot you can touch it and its not to bad.

The right pass side, Gets real hot !!! I mean i think my bumper is going to melt (it wont) but it gets so hot, a lot hotter then the other side. And the exhuast fumes are real hot if you stand where it blows.

I have my car all stock with the stock cats. I think for some reason the stock rear y pipe some how directs more flow to the pass side ???? Which is why that side gets more use.

Any one else have this / Does every one with elims get mor flow from the pass side, is it hoterr aswell ???????
????

??

I am assuming that your car is an early C4 and shill has the Y pape installed and then you muff elliminators Y off the center pipe.

If this is the case then you are correct, one side will get more exhaust when at adle than the other. The exhaust will take the path of least resistance and it due to that the side that is getting a majority of the exhaust will get hotter. Keep in mind that at WOT the air will be forced out both pipes in about the same rate.

Your condition is normal.

IF you have true duals and this is happening then there is a problem somewhere!

I wonder if you don't have a cat failing and that's the reason for the excessive heat you describe. What SCCA said is correct about the flow at idle on this type of system. You may want to get the car in the air when everything's warmed up and check the temperatures of each cat while letting it idle. Your main cat will likely be the warmest anyway normally, so keep that in mind when evaluating temps. A non-contact digital thermometer would be helpful for this. Or it may be so extreme that it'll be blatantly obvious as soon as you're under there as to the culprit.

Hmm sounds like a good idea, Im going to check some temps !! I never thought of that.

I also assume I dont have any thing to worry about, a bad cat cant hurt any thing, if its not clogged.

?

A bad cat=clogged cat and a good cat=a functional cat correct? How can a bad cat not be clogged?

How can a bad cat make it hot on just one side? Unless you have true duals with cats. A stock system merges the exhaust. You would have be clogged in the rear Y with stock pipes.
