PKE problem
I washed the car for the first time today. Again, meandered around the car for over an hour (with the keys sitting right there). Again, it now doesn't work. I tried standing by the door and holding the button in for a few seconds - nothing.
It won't pop the hatch either (Which is why I replaced the darn battery in the first place).
Any ideas? Should I just go without it? The first time I unlocked the car with the key only, the stupid alarm went crazy and it took me a few minutes to realize sticking the key in the ignition turns it off.
Anyway, I'm kind of tired of it...but I wouldn't mind it so much if it would work right. Could something be frying the battery?
Remember . . . that "BB" has to be rattling around inside that fob in order for the fob to work. It's what energizes the fob. Holding the button standing by the door, in a stationary postion, probably will not unlock your Vette (or lock it or do whatever you want it to). There have been times when I've stood beside the Vette - drivers door - and had to physically shake the fob for 2 to 3 seconds. . . and then, on other days, with the fob in my pocket, working around the garage - it works "overtime" - such that I have to either put the keys in the house or lay them, on a microfiber towel on the glass top.
Also - I've discovered that the fob doesn't want to work if it's somewhat shielded from "seeing" the Vette. If I'm carrying something else in my hands and the fob is partially obscured, it doesn't want to work. (coming out of the grocery store with several of those "goofy" white bags really raises "heck" with it)
I like the PKE . . . mine works!! But I can tell you that if mine were causing me a headache, I wouldn't e a happy camper either.
Be sure that you do a "search" on the threads here in the forum. There has to be enough, on PKE's, to start a small "novel".
. . . OH - and good luck!
Can anyone help.

If the PKE light doesn't come on when you are starting the car, that's what has happened. Just hold the door button down again for 2 seconds and you are back in business.

I did the same thing on my '93. A easy fix for a annoying problem.
