Do NOT take out the fiberglass batting, you will destroy it. Carefully remove the foam backed uphostery and try to get as much of the old foam and glue off the batting, and then install the new headliner material using the 3M SUPER spray or the equivilant. Regular duty adhesive will fail in a few months to a year, especially in areas like Arizona. Early 80's used a white styrofoam backing that was velcroed on, but I think that ended in 87-8. Yes you reuse the "greenish foam backing".
