The original stock rad was rusted along the base because it was leaking from one tank and all the road grit under the rad was preventing the liquid from running off. (keeping it nice and moist)...
I hunted for a replacement rad - prices ranged from $130 to $300 for a stock replacement. A lot of the online pictures seemed suspect so I bit the bullet and I'm spending the extra on a quality unit. Now I finally made my mind up I cant wait!!!
Hi Bogus - I have started replacing all hoses and some other stuff too - is there anything that jumps out at you from the Helms manual that is a 'must-do'? I have looked at my Helms and nothing jumps out; maybe I've worked on this car too long because normally I assume the worst and check everything twice, so the Helms just seems like a normal checklist!
you will love it. i live in las vegas, where it can get a bit warm in the summer. never been over 228, and thats when it was 118 outside. a/c going full bore. tom's a good guy too.
