Some of ya'll may remember the "some drunk bonehead" post I made about a drunk that hit and ran on my Vette last month. Well Allstate called and said it's gonna be totalled out. They told me to clear out the stereo equipment, take the plates off and send them the signed title.
They gave me 11,253.60 for it. Not bad, I bought it for 6500 but dropped at least 5K in it.
Man I'm gonna miss it. Guess I'll keep an eye out for my next Vette.
I would sincerely recommend finding out what the 'salvage retention' amount is...you can have them deduct that amount from your settlement, and keep the car to sell, part out, etc...you may make a bunch more, as the parts can bring quite a hefty sum, or maybe someone would want to buy the car as a project (for more than the salvage retention amount). Just my $.02...Good luck in whatever you decide to do, and sorry about the loss
It is definetly driveable. I drove it to the body shop. I know I could try to keep it and part it out or fix it up over time. I'm an old car guy and I've bought and fixed up so many cars in my lifetime I can't remember them all. Two cars that I ahve owned stick out in my mind that I will never forget, and they're both Corvettes. One was a '79 that I had to take in lieu of money owed to me some 20 years ago, and this one. The others are all just a blur. Of course the blur could just be from all the drugs and alcohol, I kinda lost a decade that way.
Anyway fellas, I have the stereo out of it, some of ya'll may remember the pictures I've posted of it. I really have no use for this stuff now since all my other cars have awesome stereos in them. If anyone wants the equipment, 500 bucks and you have to come get it, it's not worth shipping. The box for the amps and 10" woofers was custom built to fit perfectly in the back. If nobody buys it, I'll put this stuff in my boat.

The buy back should be 22% or so. Even with the salvage it ought to be worth $3k or so. If I wasn't so backed up, I'd be interested. Glad to see you filled ou your profile Good luck.
