So my new engine has been to three different mechanics and none of them can figure out the wild idle that I have. One of my customers came in today and said that he had the same problem with another car of his and that when all was said and done it ended up being the MAF. I am not pulling any codes, but does this sound like something, that might be true. Hell I am so far into the car now that spending the money to purchase a new MAF would be peanuts. Also would I have to purchase anything different considering I have the 58mm throttle body now?
I doubt that the 58mm throttle body will matter. I got an MAF with a lifetime warranty, and the 2 relays, (power and burnoff), at autozone for $211. Quick and easy to replace.
Did anyone clean the throttle body and adjust the tps?
Pete, before you spend a lot of money check one more thing. Do you have a good seal between the MAF and the throttle body? If so the MAF sees one quantity while the engine sees another. ECM would be trying to make corrections based on false data. Worth a look.
Thanks. Will check that right now. I assume you mean where the coupler is. I did look at the MAF before and the screen is dented as well as being extremely black
