Default When doing weatherstripping

It was a pain to get to some of the smaller pieces left over in the small channels so I took the screws out of the metal pieces and was able to move them around to get more out. Now my question is should I put some rtv silcone on the metal pieces when putting them back on or just put them back on and put the screws in.

Was not sure if they needed some seal behind the metal or not since the new weather strips will be in place shortly.

I replaced my w/s in 1997 and just screwed the channels back in.

Ok that sounds good.

I just got my wilcox kit out and I am looking to figure out which piece goes where now and I see that I have no new screws or plastic pieces. Do the new kits not use those plastic supports like the stock units?

Mine were dried and mostly fell apart when I took them off. I could locate some newer sheet metal screws in the garage or try to locate some stainless steel units at the hardware store if I need them.

I would have thought this kit would have had those plastic supports.

Edit:

I just took my outer strips out of the package they came in...no new screws? I guess the stock ones are reused? I had read that they used rivets from the factory though.
