Default FX3 shock question

i just was sent 2 front shocks from a reputable guy. he was closed so i couldnt ask him so im asking you guys tonight.

if there are 2 parts to shock top and bottom, can the top have any play in it. one shock has no movement and the other can rattle. my present shock on the car rattles so im wondering is it loose like the one i just got.
thx

Are you talking about the upper shock rod or the upper metal cover? The upper metal cover simply provides protection for the rod and the seal on the lower part of the shock. There should be no movement or looseness in the shock rod (other than the up and down movement you would expect as the shock compresses).

Is the Service Ride Control light on in the DIC? If so, what codes are present?

FX3 shocks are rebuildable by Bilstein.
