The miles wouldn't bother me if the car has been maintained and taken care of. I don't think you'll get an even trade, especially from a dealer...always out to make a buck.
I'd rather have the 93 over the 87...newer car, newer technology, more horsepower, better looks IMO.
The 93 should be worth more $$ It is alot more car in my opinion. If you want to get some seat time in a 93 let me know. I have a couple of things done to mine but nothing you couldn't duplicate. I would highly recommend gears and a higher stall.
In your view, the 44k miles isn't a big factor? Just curious about details of your opinion, I'm not challenging you.
No problem. I don't consider mileage as a huge factor. The later the year in the C4s the better the technology, better value, and of course the LT1. I am not dissing the 87, nor the L98, they are fine vettes with a lot of positives. Just the general rule with any vehicle is the later year models are better (bugs have been engineered out) and carry a better resale. As far as mileage I have over 197,000 on mine now and it is both original and running strong, just the routine stuff that gets fixed when it breaks (or when I am bored and 'play' with it). i agree with wayne. the LT1 has more horses, a flatter torque curve over a higher rpm range. if you're a stock guy like i think you are, and are plain afraid to mod, then just get the stock LT1 and be done with it. you'll find yourself craving to mod the L98 which has a helluva alot of ground it needs to make up for, not to mention the first 50 extra horses just to get to the LT1 minimum, and its gonna cost.
The 93, probably about $10K. It is 6 years younger.
I just sold my 93 with 83k on the clock for $10k. Most of the owner history of mine was known, it was in excellent shape, definitely above average. Hopefully that will serve as a guideline at least for the 93. I'd recommend buying from a private party, especially a forum member, where you can meet the owner and discuss the car with him or her. And you will likely get a better price.
Sell your 87 and buy a LTX with similar miles. You can't take the money with ya
This is kind of a daydream, like I said.
First off, I'd have a heck of a time selling a car I just bought and not having the wife go bonkers.
Second, I'm in pretty deep on this car. Bought it for $7k, overpaid a little. But now I have $9.5k in it.
The dealer where the 93 is, has an 87 with 22k miles on it, he's asking $15k for that. So, I just was figuring, if I could get anywhere close to an even up, it might be worth it.
If not, I'll keep the 87 for a year or two. Maybe I can keep it on the road for more than a week or two straight.
First off, I'd have a heck of a time selling a car I just bought and not having the wife go bonkers. Tell her it's going to need an engine
So you are going to sell it and buy a newer one

That is so evil it's good!
But I'm a lousy liar. I'd be better off telling her the truth and taking my lumps. (If I was better at lying to her, your suggestion would work!)
