Default Seat Conversion

Ok, I just bought a 88 Coupe with standard seats, drivers power, passenger not. I want to convert it to 94-96 sport seats, both power, because my wife is not comfy in the current setup.

Anyway, what parts do I need to do this?

Thanks

Lou

You would not only need the seats but the harness...The plugs are diff on the earlier models..Also will you need a dual switch for the console??The FSM shows the wiring of the harness to the seat..Prolly have to modify that a little ...Not to hard I did it on my 86..The biggest expense I found was finding a Nice pair of seats

I have found seats, with switch and harness. Would I also need different seat tracks as well?

All you have to do is convert to power for the passenger side then bolt in your seats of choice.

Sure The drivers should work.. you'll need at least one for the new Pass power side...I'm kinda suprised the did'nt sell the seats with the tracks..I know sometimes they don't(more bang for the buck) but most often they do

Do you have any pix of where you placed the new switches? I am trying to figure out how and where to place them, as only my drivers is power, and I believe the placement and switches are different on the 94 and up sport seats.

When i did mine i just switched to the factory dual power seat switch setup changed the passenger seat tracks to factory 86 power. Drop in seat of choice. Sorry I don't have pics of that. I soon got bored and changed the entire interior to 96.

I just got done installing a pair of C5 power sport seats in by C4. My C4 had driver power seats, but not the passenger side. I left the C5 power seat controls for the passenger side intact (mounted to the right side of the seat), but that didn't work for the driver seat due to the emergency brake. I rewired the driver power seat controls on the new seats to the old switches, and repositioned the driver C5 seat controls from the left side of the seat to the front of the seat. (Necessary for lumbar controls since the console switches are only for seat position.) I wired the seat controls in "parallel," so you can use either the driver C5 seat switches or the C4 console switches. Lumbar control can only be done from the C5 control however...I didn't think it was worth mounting new switches for lumbar control, since I simply mounted the C5 control to the front of the frame, which works quite well and is simple enough. It was only because I am **** I wanted the C4 console switches to also work.
The entire project was well worth the trouble, I think the C5 seats are much more comfortable without the bottom bolsters.
