Default Autometer Gauges

This will be my last post about gauges. I'm split between the original Ultra-Lite and Ultra-Lite II for nitrous and fuel pressure gauges. The original Ultra-Lite series uses an incandescent lighting around the perimeter but can be replaced with LED's of various colors. The face is white in the daytime and black at night. The Perimiter lights, light up the outer edge and markings at night. The Ultra-Lite II uses LED's that show through the background. The face is white in the day and black at night. At night the LED's show through and light the markings white and incremenetal markings amber. The LED's on this one can only be replaced by the factory but I was told they last 100,000+ hours. Please help me choose. I hate ordering something like this site unseen. I got the description from the links below but I can not find pictures of either at night. Also can replacement pillars for two gauges still be bought for our cars or is the slip over type our only option?

Thanks

I have the original ultra lite in my camaro. No complaints. It’s very easy to read in both night and day. Just make sure you know that incandescent white is never as bleached out as leds white. It’s more of an off-white/yellowish white. It was not necessary to make holes in the stock pillar in my camaro with the slip over type but i'm not sure on the vettes. I wouldn’t make any holes unless I absolutely had to. I just used 3m double sided tape to hold the pod to the pillar. if i can find my camera i'll snap a few pics.

I am the salesmanager for a tool and equipment company and L.E.D. lighting has been all the rage for several years now. There are l.e.d. drop lights, flashlights, underhood lights and on and on. I like the l.e.d. lights in something that is cordless/rechargeable because with l.e.d.'s you will have a much longer runtime. I am absolutely not impressed with the duarability of l.e.d. lighting from ANY manufacturer I have seen though. This is not apples to apples I understand but just thought I would let you know my experience with l.e.d. lights. We sell thousands and thousands of l.e.d. products every year and their failure rate is high. They may or may not hold up better in something like a guage.

Sorry, this is the best I could do with this POS camera. With the flash on, it looks like the day time pic. With the flash off , you can't even see it. It’s brighter and the numbers are fully visible in person. Hopefully someone will post some of their pics. If not, as soon as I find my new camera I’ll take some better pics.
