No nerve struck at all! Values of C4's, IMHO, even though available in all the pricing guides really come down to the value in the eye of the buyer. I paid top dollar for mine and had no problem with that. The only reason I am listing the car is that I am looking into a C6Z06, or now am also considering a C6 Vert, and due to budget, may try to sell the 96. I wish you luck on finding your perfect car. I will say that you will pay a premium for a CE, even though it was the greatest number produced, and you will pay a sky high premium for a GS, a $3250 option vs $1250 for the CE.

To answer your original question: Yes some sellers are fishing. Some CE's do sell at the high prices, but there are also some nice cars at lower prices. Keep looking, widen your search and be ready to act quickly when a good buy comes along.

Good Luck, Jim

C6's are great cars. I bought mine (coupe) in Jan 05 and it's still a kick in the pants to drive. Their are some great deals on 07's right now with the higher HP 08's on the way. The price is also dropping rapidly on used 05's and 06's. You still have to rob a bank to get any C6ZO6.

Thanks, I'm pretty much looking nation-wide and I'm ready as soon as the right one comes up.

$33,000

That's the value placed on the "Show-Ready" CE vert w/ LT1 by the latest Corvette Magazine C4 price comparison.

"Good" condition is $28,000.

Its obvious that you already own one. I, on the other hand, am still looking.

1996 Corvette Convertible, LT4, CE, 20,000 miles
Edmunds $16000
Kelly Blue Book $17500
NADA Guide $18000

I will admit that I'd be willing to pay a little more for a nice car.
