I just installed the new rear hatch WS and daaamn is it tight...
I've double checked the installation to verify that all the WS is slid completely down onto the channel, which BTW got cleaned with fresh Li grease. Also the hatch hinges are solid.
It now takes two hands to close the hatch and I'm a little concerned about stress on the glass.
Anyone else experience much increased in tightness?
If so did you raise the rear hatch latch to relieve pressure on the latch & glass??

After installing my new rear hatch seal it was a bit tighter, but It's OK. I have to use a bit more force to push it down, both hands? not quite but more force than before. It has been about 2 months now and it's better nw than when i first installed.
I think any leaks are going to be a window that needs adjustment...I've adjusted windows on a few C4's now to stop leaks...however I bought nothing but GM weather strip any time I've replaced it. So far I've done the hatch twice and the B pillar along with the both sides of the top. GM wx is exactly like what you got from the factory, no compromises in fit and finish. If you buy cheap, you might have an issue I dont know. Get the toold from Eastwood Company that make the job easier. Then just be patient and try not to get glue on top of the wx strip just in between it and the car. It gets kinda stringy and can stick to your hands then get stuck on the rubber. It will **** you off if it happens to you and you might have to do the job over. Be slow and methodical like with any other repair, and it is best to have a helper, hopefully someone who's done it once already.
I have had good luck with all the aftermarket weather stripping except the door trim. That has caused my HOURS and HOURS of headaches. I have also lost money on it. I finally got smart and purchased the parts from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com at half the cost of a local dealer. I go the part today and looks EXACTLY like the original. I will probably install tomorrow or Friday. Then I will have to fix all the damage the aftermarket pieces caused. The $123.00 part from GM is going to cost me three times as much in time and damage because I tried to save money.

I recently replaced the rear hatch weather stripping with Wilcox. The old one was in such bad shape, it was easy to pull out. The original grease was in good shape so i didn't attempt to remove it. The Wilcox installed very easy, great fit. Any excess grease that got on the weather strip or the paint was easily cleaned off with WD-40.
I think it was Ecklers and then I tried someone off of ebay with worst results. I just couldn't bring myself to trying a third after-market company for this one stupid piece.
