Default Caught Up!!

I purchased my 85 coupe seven years ago. It was bone stock up until 2005. The summer of 2004 was my first time putting it on the track(1/8th mile Local Drag strip). I didn't know much about Subru's WRX and STI. That night I was introduced to what kind of power those car have. I was embarrassed. That car beat me by three car lenghts at the finish line. I made it promise to myself that will not happen again . No 4 banger will beat this vette like that again(it better be heavily modified). Since 2005 I've replaced the orginial L98 with a all new 383 engine, and a few other up grades(see signature). I got so consumed into wanting to making my car faster for the track, I found myself driving it less and less as a daily driver. I only drove it to the track. To make a long story short. I enter my car into a local car show that was sponsored by Hooters and Budwieser. I won second place trophy for corvette wild 68-96 class. Last year I tied for 1st place in the same car show in a unmodified class. I got caugth up into racing so much that I gotten away from enjoying the car. I have enough hp and TQ to beat a SUBRU WRX and STI and a few others. I'm through with trying to beat someone and prove that corvettes are fast cars. I'm going to enjoy my car for my pleasure and not to prove I can beat the next ricer. Ahhhh!!! I need to get that off my chest!

But now you got a car that will beat those hopped up ricers. Take it to the track every now and then to have some fun and look good at the same time.

We've got a couple of guys up here that have pristine Vettes that drag race in the Corvette Challenge.

i agree with you, one of my co-workers has a dodge neon srt-4, and that thing is damned fast, and could have taken out my 1990 any day of the week. so i tore my car apart to make it faster etc etc..then the day came to race and i kicked his butt by around 6 car lengths. now my problem is i have a house payment to make and he doesnt, so he spent $4,000 on some crazy turbo setup to put him in the low 11's(500 hp) which means i will be tasting his rubber, so now its an "arms race" between us. guess you can always let the air out of their tires too

I often ask my self " When will the madness stop" !! I too have a houes note to pay. I decided to pay more attention to enhancement projects for my house and enjoy the labor I've put into my car by driving it.
As long as you can say that you've beat that SRT/4 that's all that matters.
