1991 Convertible 3rd Brake Light Problem
I have changed the bulb, checked the wiring and still cannot figure why it won't work.
If anybody has some help, please send.
Thanks,
KW

The problem is usually the Brake Light Switch.
Here's the schematic from a 90. 91 should be similiar.
12 volts from the Stop/Haz Fuse (Hot at all times) goes to terminal B of the Brake Light Switch. When you step on the brake pedal the switch closes and, 12 volts from terminal Pin B comes out of the switch on terminal Pin C.
12 volts then goes to the light bulbs for the third brake light.
Right click on the schematic and print it out which may make it easier to read.

Look at the schematic. The Brake Switch has two seperate output contacts.
Both contacts get 12 volts from the same source.
One contact is for the rear brake lights. The other contact is for the third brake light.
Like a single throw double pole switch.

Finally had an opening and put in the brake switch. Damn, it works great. So much for the people saying its not the switch.
Thanks again. I haven't had a 3rd brake light in 10 years due to bad info.
Now I have good info and a brake light.
