I need to replace my stock mufflers on my 1988 coupe with auto. I am thinking about installing the KBD Targa 3" Chrome tip Mufflers. Any Pros or Cons on this type of muffler. Any others ideas would help.
I replaced the front y-pipe with out pre-cats, a free flow Magnaflow cat and maganflow cat back system. That really opened up that motor on my 86. The sound is great inside and out side.
If you can, listen to a car with the system you want. I put flowmasters on mine and they resonate.....ALOT. Wish I would have checked around more first.
Go ahead and laugh! I used the stock replacement mufflers from Corvette Central on my '86 auto. I've actually had many compliments on them. They sound surprisingly "throaty", but not obnoxiously so, and they don't drone. Oh, and they are cheap too, at $159 a pair. Having said this, they may not have the sound your looking for. Your best bet is to try to listen to different systems before you plunk down your hard-earned dollars.
