Default carpet .... replace ..... source

Hey ............. Hi ............ 1st post here.

My story, had 78 Vette, then married, then kids, had to sell it ...............
.....................now, kids in college, and I just can't resist.

Made a deal on a 90 that I looked at last week, going to change the factory sport seats ..... hate em. Any how, car has been painted and partial interior color change, was tan going to black, and the replacement seats will be black. Looks like a good time to change the carpet whilst the seats be out.

Need suggestions on source, just respectable quality with good fit ... in black ... this is not a real "hi-end" car, just summer fun. OK ... hit me with some carpet comments ......... TIA

ps .... might just become a regular here ... if work allows ... nice forum!

pic --- see avatar ... is there any way to upload a pic to a post here or does the pic need to be parked on the web somewhere???

how much are you looking to spend on carpets? cause i just passed by a proffessional today who would do all the carpets for $990. But if you do the labor yourself and wanna save some bucks you could probably check out ecklers or corvettesalvage.com for carpets

I used "The Last Detail" you can google them. I beleive that the website is www.tld-corvette.com.

They are very helpful and the product was great. Replaced the front carpet in my 94. Exact fit.

WillCox via eBay, through which Willcox sells at a lower price than their website. Carpet is from American Custom Carpet, which is the supplier for almost all other sources with the exception of Mid America Motorworks (that does their own). Mass backed just like the original in any original color. You don't get front speaker covers, though, which is unfortunate. If you order from Willcox, the box will actually be direct shipped from American Custon Carpets. You'll need to do very light fitting such as cutting out rear speaker holes. This is actually good so that you can better fit exactly to your individual car.

There are a couple of articles circulating around the web on carpet replacment. Just Google Corvette Carpet Replacement and they should come up.

CorvetteAmerica.com sells the kits (Carpet and seat covers) with a discount for buying them as a set (About $1300.00).

The seat covers comes in both perforated and non-perf. Made from factory dies.
Same thing with the carpeting. Pre-cut and molded. Fits right in. I didn't have to cut or trim anything but the rear speaker openings, but they were pre-perfed. Just needed to punch them out.

Someone posted here that they bought Wilcox carpeting, and it came in a Corvette America box. (But, I wouldn't swear to that).

Willcox, you won't be disappointed. Recently put a complete carpet package into the wife's 85. Completely satisified.

The carpet set is listed under Forum Specials. Sorry guys, we had some site problems yesterday. The site was down about 12 hours.

http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...ducts_id=24118

The forum section can be pulled down from either the left side of the web site, or by using the year at the top and then searching "Forum Specials".

I just placed m order for a complete new set for the 93. I can't wait 'til the UPS guy shows up. The car looks a little funny with no seats or carpet.
